FAQ
Clear answers to common questions about oral function, breathing patterns, sleep-related concerns, virtual care, and what to expect from therapy.
Not sure whether your symptoms are connected? You're not expected to have all the answers before reaching out. These FAQs explain some of the functional patterns Rachel looks at and what you can expect from care.
Yes, they may be. Habitual mouth breathing or difficulty maintaining nasal breathing can influence sleep quality, oral function, and how rested you feel. We evaluate these patterns as part of a broader functional assessment to better understand what may be contributing to your symptoms. Breathing habits are one of many factors considered.

Guides to Help You Spot Your Patterns
Start with Rachel’s free tongue & sleep guide, or go deeper with The Exhausted Woman’s Sleep Reset Guide, which includes an airway & mouth-breathing clue map.
Not always — but sometimes the first step isn’t therapy. Rachel doesn’t simply hand everyone the same set of exercises. Your evaluation looks at your symptoms, history, and clinical findings to understand whether your concerns appear mild, moderate, or more significant, and what the right next step is for you.
If your symptoms suggest that something deeper may be going on with your sleep or airway, Rachel may recommend working with an appropriate medical or dental provider and/or completing a sleep evaluation before beginning therapy. That way, your care is built on a clear understanding of what’s actually happening.
That’s part of root-cause care: the right support, in the right order, instead of a one-size-fits-all program.
Appropriate resting tongue posture helps support oral function, swallowing, lip seal, breathing patterns, and overall muscle coordination. When the tongue does not rest in its ideal position (in the roof of the mouth), other muscles may compensate, which can influence how you breathe and function throughout the day. We assess tongue posture as part of our broader functional evaluation.
